Christmas Gift Guide 2 - The Alts and Goths and Not-So-Tinselly Crowd

Christmas Shopping is tricky if you’re buying for those with alternative taste who don’t really do things dipped in glitter so much! Panic not, I’ve rustled up a selection of ideas for you so you can win over the darker customers on your shopping list. Over the coming weeks I’ll be posting a few more gift guides for other different types of people as well!

1 . If They Won’t Wear Anything But Black

Jet Black Hair Roses

Any goth-chick would be delighted with these dark, vintage one-of-a-kind gothic black rose hair pins. This pair are available in the Etsy shop right here, but if they’ve already sold by the time you read this, you can find other black hair pins right here.

2 . The Lover of Fantasy Fiction

Strangehollow - a brilliant book for any age

If you’re buying for someone who loves their goblins and alternative realms, this is perfect. Emily Hare is an incredibly talented artist with an amazing imagination. She has created a whole new world called ‘Strangehollow’ and welcomes you to explore it and it’s weird and wonderful inhabitants through her self-published books. Available here.

3 . The One Who Likes To Be Talked About

A statement-making hair comb

For a lot of alternative dressers, they do it specifically to stand out from the crowd. Help them really turn heads with this dark filigree rose comb that is sure to get them some attention. This one is handmade, incorporating a genuine victorian jewellery piece, mounted on a hand-enamelled comb. Available here.

4 . The Fan of The Slightly Macabre

Their very own spider web to wear

This beautiful necklace is so cleverly created by capturing a genuine abandoned spider web (so don’t worry, you’re not ruining the spider’s Christmas!) and preserving it on card set under glass.
Made by Jewellery By Eilatan and available here.

5 . The Theatrical Type

A versatile statement belt

Whether it’s amateur dramatics as a hobby, a love of cos-play or just a theatrical style of dressing, this belt is a beautiful gift that works with gowns, skirts and jumpsuits alike. Hand-embellished with original elements of vintage jewellery and available in the Etsy shop here.

6 . The Artistic One

Intricately beautiful art prints

I actually bought a print of this myself. Doodleicious Art is the most beautiful collection of animals, insects and plants created from tiny floral details. You might be lucky enough to find an original for sale but the prints are also very beautiful. I am in love with this one of Death’s Head Hawk Moths, available here.

7 . Steampunks and Fans of Victoriana

A vintage dark cameo hair pin

Know someone whose alternative style is well and truly set in history, with their high collars, floor-length skirts and the occasional top hat?! Look no further than this lovely dark hair pin made from an original vintage cameo. Available here.

8 . The Quirky One

Batwings For Their Boots

Want a quirky gift for the person who’s always just got to be a little bit different? These are brilliant. So simple but so gothically cute. Wings to add to the laces of your boots from the brilliant workshop of Amabilis. You can choose bat wings (shown here) or there are also dragon wings and fairy wings available. Bat wings available here.

I hope that’s been helpful for the alternative types in your life! Happy Shopping :)
