Gift Guide 1 - The Tricky-To-Buy-For Crowd

It’s time to start the Christmas Shopping and we all have those loved ones on our lists that cause a few headaches when it comes to buying something you’re sure they’ll really love. Don’t worry, I’ve rounded up a few ideas for you to make it a little easier. Over the coming weeks I’ll be posting a few gift guides for different types of people but I’m starting off with ideas for those particularly tricky characters!

1 . The Auntie Who Doesn’t Need Anything Else For her Garden

Flowers For Her Hair
She was always around when you were a kid so you love your Auntie, but these days, she’s all about her peonies and dahlias. You’ve bought her cute gardening gloves, pretty trowels and countless pot plants. What now?! How about you give her a bit of glamour whilst still showing you know she loves her glorious garden? Plenty of gorgeous floral hair combs right here.

2 . The Dad You Always Just Buy A ‘Nice Bottle’ For

Wine Barrel Corkscrew
You love your Dad but by this stage in life, he’s got most of the things he wants or needs so you end up buying him a nice bottle of his favourite tipple each year, right? For a bit of variety, while sticking with the theme, check out a host of lovely and inventive wine-related gifts over at www.topnotedesign.co.uk like this fab corkscrew made from solid oak from genuine wine barrels.

3 . The Friend Who’s Getting Married Next Year

‘Something Old and Something Blue’ Hair Pin
All she can talk about or think about is the wedding, argghhh! And all the stuff she needs or wants is already on the wedding gift registry. Treat her to a blue vintage hair pin to be worn on its own or paired with a tiara or fresh flowers. That’s one less thing for her to tick off her wedding to-do list - Something Old and Something Blue dealt with in one fell swoop! Find one here.

4 . The Friend’s Teen Daughter Who You Rarely See In Person

Funky Made To Measure Lounge Pants
Teenagers are difficult to predict at the best of times - even harder if you only see them a few times a year. So, go for something they can’t fail to love like super-comfy lounge pants. ‘Betty Bottoms’ from www.oohbetty.co.uk come in sizes 8 - 30 and multiple lengths. Handmade to order in the U.K in a wide selection of awesome prints.

5 . The Niece Who Just Started University

One-Of-A Kind Hairband For Those College Balls
Students are too skint to buy the nice things in life but they still love to party and still have all those events to go to. Treat her to a special but versatile hairband like this ‘side tiara’ that can be worn with myriad hairstyles and all sorts of outfits. Lots to choose from here.

6 . The Husband Who Buys Himself Whatever You Planned To Get

Medieval Axe Just For Pizza
You’ve got a glass of wine and a mince pie, sat congratulating yourself on the brilliant gift you’ve chosen for your husband… in he comes, and delightedly tells you he’s just ordered himself one. Great. Well, he won’t have bought himself one of these! The coolest pizza cutter you’ve ever seen - a medieval axe handmade from English Ash and stainless steel by the clever people at www.ravenforge.com and specially designed to cut the pizza but leave the pizza toppings in place.

7 . The High Maintenance Mother-In-Law Who’s Always Out To Lunch

One-Of-A-Kind Hair Pins To Show Off
It’s hard work buying for someone who always knows better than you! So choose her some hair pins that none of her friends will have and give her something to boast about. Extra points if you choose her favourite colour! Every pair of my hairpins is a one-off unique design with all sorts of colours to choose from over here.

8 . The Friend Who Literally Has Everything

A Little Attitude Of Gratitude
We all know someone who’s always first with that sold-out handbag, first to read that bestseller, and first wearing that must-have beauty product. So, if you’re totally out of ideas, treat them to some thanks for what they already have. This beautiful keepsake ornament by the ingenious folks at www.essential.ink is a tiny leather journal designed to be hung on the tree year after year and written in each year with something the owner is grateful for. Such a lovely tradition to start.

I’m sure you have your own tricky customers to buy for but hopefully that’s given you a little food for thought. Happy Shopping :)
